786 Pakistanis repatriated from Attari border as India tightens grip on diplomatic relations

The Indian government had ordered the repatriation of Pakistani nationals. The deadline lapsed on April 29 evening. During the last six days, a total of 786 Pakistanis have gone back to their country from the Attari border. Double is the number of Indians who have come from Pakistan. India had revoked visas of Pakistanis after the Pahalgam terror attack.

786 Pakistanis returned from Attari border in 6 days (social media)

 786 Pakistanis have been repatriated from Attari border, and 1616 Indians have been repatriated from Pakistan. These are the figures from 24 April to 29 April. The maximum number of Pakistanis came back on April 27. A total of 237 Pakistanis came back to their nation on this day. A total of 191 Pakistanis came back to their nation on April 25. Meanwhile, 28 were repatriated to Pakistan on April 24, 81 on April 26, 145 on April 24 and 104 on April 29.

How many Indians returned?

Speaking of Indians coming back from Pakistan, 105 Indians came back on April 24, 287 on April 25, 342 on April 26, 116 on April 27, 275 on April 28, 491 on April 29. The total is 1616.After the Pahalgam terror attack, India took a major step and cancelled the visa of Pakistanis with immediate effect. No Indian visa will be granted to any Pakistani citizen until further decision. Also, the Indian Embassy in Pakistan and Pakistani Embassy in India were shut down. Pak diplomats given 7 days to leave the country.

What did the Government say?

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had issued an advisory to Indian citizens not to travel to Pakistan and asked Indian citizens in Pakistan to return at the earliest. "The Indian government has taken a decision to discontinue visa services for Pakistani nationals with immediate effect," the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated. "All valid existing visas granted by India to Pakistani nationals are revoked."

26 individuals were murdered in a terror attack in Pahalgam

All Pakistani nationals present in India need to depart from India prior to the expiration of the new visa duration, the statement added. This was decided in the CCS meeting. The CCS meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Modi took place a day after 26 individuals were murdered in a terror attack in Pahalgam. In a firm address to Pakistan, India had made several decisions including a significant downgrading of diplomatic relations with it, suspending more than six-decade-old Indus Waters Treaty and shutting down the Attari post.
